The last time that a bibliography of known wallpaper editions was attempted was in 1938. It had a combined listing of 31 known wallpaper editions of all titles. This caused me to wonder: Why hasn't an attempt been made to update this list? With the membership of the NCSA -- private collectors as well as institutions and societies -- we should be able to expand this list of known titles and editions. I composed a form letter and copied the list of 31 known editions and mailed this letter to all institutions and societies on our mailing list as well as dealers and collectors I felt might own some wallpaper editions. While I anticipated being able to expand the bibliography, let me say how pleased I am with the cooperation. As of the mailing of this issue of Collectible Newspapers (April 1991), the list has grown to 143 documented editions ranging from as early as 1852 to as recent as 1947. We have been able to add ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE EDITIONS to the previous list. This recent bibliography is printed in its entirety here. Anyone able to add to this list should notify the Web Master of this site and I will add it to the list.
