HistoryBuff.com Monthly Newsletter

HistoryBuff.com DOES NOT sell, rent, or give away our subscriber list to anyone.

HistoryBuff.com offers a FREE Monthly newsletter sent by email. Contents vary from issue to issue of topic and era. However, articles in the newsletter tend to focus on the story behind American historical people or events, as well as bizarre, humorous and little-known history. In addition, each issue contains a brain teaser to tickle your brain. Issues are sent by email the tenth of each month.

Each issue also contains a trivia contest for subscribers. Ten prizes are offered each issue; One Grand Prize, and nine alternate contest prizes. The Grand Prize varies greatly from issue to issue but usually has a retail value of over $50. Alternate prizes offered in each issue include; Two different DVD's, One music CD, one computer/DVD game, and five original historic newspapers from the 1800's. Some of the prizes are provided by the History Channel.

Before subscribing you need to do the following:

  • If you have SPAM protection installed on your email program, you will need to add "help@historybuff.com" to your "White List" or "Buddies" list.

  • Also, in your email preferences, you will need to click the box "Accept email with embedded attachments." You can leave the box "Execute CGI scripts" unchecked.

  • After you have entered your email address to subscribe and clicked the "Subscribe" button, you will receive an email asking for you to click the link in the email and confirm your desire to subscribe. (NOTE: All emails that are not confirmed within 72 hours are automatically deleted. If you normally do not check your email on a daily basis, check it the next day after subscribing. Otherwise your email address WILL NOT be entered into the database.)

  • If you do not receive the email asking you to confirm, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:

    • The email address was entered incorrectly. About 10% of those wanting to subscribe have typographical errors when entering their email address - for example dude@hotmail.cob; gal@yahoo.cov; www.dude&gal@hotmail.com (www NEVER is part of an email address.)

    • You did not add "help@historybuff.com" to your "White List," "Buddies List," etc.

    • If you use a free email service, such as Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, it is likely you have reached your quota of storage for that service. Delete the emails you no longer need, and attempt to subscribe again.

    • FAKERS NOTICE: Fake email addresses are automatically deleted upon the bounceback. No one ever sees them and they do not get entered into the database.
